Dear Sir,

I read this article with interest. The authors mention in their conclusion that a variety of techniques was employed, depending on the degree of osteolysis and bony defects encountered, and therefore it is important to tailor treatment to each individual patient.

I note that in their study of 22 patients, nine cases had supplementary fixation with cortical strut allografts. It would be interesting to know how this subgroup performed. Fracture healing and stability would have been influenced by the use of allograft in these cases. With nearly 41% of the cases having this supplementary fixation, I feel that this should be mentioned in the title and abstract, and dealt with in more detail in the paper, as otherwise the message will be misleading.
