Sir,

It is interesting to note the functional outcome of two different methods of treatment of a very common orthopaedic injury. I note that the authors used a below-elbow cast for immobilisation in the non-operative group. However, I wonder if they would have achieved less radiological deformity with an above-elbow cast, at least for the first two weeks.1 This is known to neutralise the effect of brachioradialis which is responsible for the residual deformity. They would then have achieved the same outcome for the two methods of treatment.
