Sir,
We read this article with interest. We were impressed by the stability and fixation characteristics of the
femoral and acetabular components, and by the survivorship of these
implants. We were also interested to read that their experience with 112
threaded acetabular cups was excellent; this is in contrast with our own experience with such a design.
The paper states that all hips were operated upon by the same
consultant surgeon (CR). Do the authors feel that much of the success in
this series may have been favoured by a single experienced operating
surgeon? There is no doubt that operative technique is paramount in a successful outcome.1 We doubt that this series would have had such
impressive results if carried out by supervised Specialist Registrars
undergoing training. What was the authors' assessment of these implants in less experienced hands?
