Re: Clinical infection rate

rachna_anila{at}yahoo.co.in Anil Agarwal, et al.

Sir,

We read this article with interest and we appreciate the methodology of Schindler et al using the enrichment culture for bacterial growth and the use of ‘control’ blades. Since most bacteria in their series grew on enrichment culture, the quantitative bacterial contamination of the knives must have been extremely low. We feel that the clinical relevance of the study will be increased if the authors cite the deep infection rate, if any, in the 203 cases they investigated and the isolated organism.
